Who else is ready for a new beginning in 2021?
2020 was a hard year, a growing year, a year a lot of us would like to forget, but I think also a great time for reflection.
We all were forced to change things up, to reevaluate our priorities, to reevaluate our health, to focus on our small, local community, and so many other things.
As life starts to return to normal, let's not forget all of the things we've learned this last year..
The biggest change and challenge for me this year was having to slow down. I am extremely extroverted, and cannot get enough of people and events and have a really hard time saying no to things. Can we say FOMO?! This year, for the first time of my life (besides being grounded in high school), I had many days with nothing to do. Sure, I had my kids and husband, cooking and working out, but on the dark and gloomy Spring days here in the Pacific Northwest, it got downright depressing. What I didn't expect though, was to actually start enjoying this slower pace of life. We are pretty intentional with family time anyway, but when all of our activities got cancelled, we actually had time to sit and relax together. We have played more board games and taken more family walks in this last year than we ever have before., and it has been lovely.
I want to take this slower pace of life into 2021 as well. Even as things eventually begin to open up, and life gets busier, I really want to make sure to continue to put my family first and intentionally build up the relationships in our household..
I was thinking about creating a bulleted list of how I'm going to do this and what I'll be doing, but one other thing last year taught me was to go with the flow.
So, here are my reflective life goals for 2021....
I will focus on enjoying every moment (eventful and quiet). I will try to not overfill my calendar with activities and really think it through before committing. Most of all, I will strive to go with the flow, and not look back at what was and wish for that, but instead move forward with the path and plan that God has laid before me.
How about you? What are your life goals for 2021?
