Three Reasons You Can't Lose Weight

3 Reasons You Can’t Lose Weight

You are not eating enough.

You are killing it at the gym, counting calories, restricting and being consistent, but STILL cannot lose weight. Sound familiar? More often than not, you will see an immediate weight loss with calorie restriction, but it doesn’t last. You hit a plateau, and either stop losing weight or end up gaining it all back as soon as you start eating more.

Why?

When you are eating too little, your body goes into energy conservation mode, and your metabolism ends up slowing way down. Causing you to plateau and have to eat less and less in order to not gain weight. This is not good. Not only are you not hitting your weight loss goals, but it also can wreck our hormones.

Which leads me to the next reason you can’t lose weight.

Your hormones are out of whack.

There are definitely symptoms you can look at to help determine if this is an issue for you (hair thinning, dry skin, weight gain, low libido, mood changes), but it is best to get checked out by a practitioner to make sure your hormones are being produced and absorbed properly.

Why?

Your thyroid is the master regulator of your metabolism. If your thyroid is underactive or your cells are too inflamed to be able to absorb the thyroid hormone, you will have a hard time losing weight.

Blood Sugar Dysregulation

Feeling like you are constantly hungry, needing to snack all day to keep your energy levels up? In our culture we are constantly eating, and usually reaching for a high carbohydrate snack. Unfortunately this keeps us in fat-storing mode all day long.

Why?

High blood sugar levels, mean high insulin levels. Insulin is your “fat-storing” hormone. It tells your body that it’s time to store fat and also prevents stored fat from being broken down.

If you are struggling to lose weight, sign up for my Reboot! -Metabolism course. It's a 4-week course where you will learn how to not only burn sugar, but also fat for energy.
